Max Verstappen collected an additional award at the Nurburgring alongside his GT3 victory.
Verstappen had a dream debut in the GT3 class at the Nordschleife on Saturday. The four-time Formula 1 champion, who partnered with Chris Lulham, was handed an additional award to mark the occasion.

During the ceremony, Verstappen not only received the traditional gold wreath but was also named ‘Fahrer des Tages’ – the equivalent of Formula 1’s ‘Driver of the Day’ award.
This award was introduced earlier this year to recognise outstanding performances. According to the presenter of the prize, there couldn't be anyone more fitting to receive it other than Verstappen.

The Dutchman started the race in third place, but was quick to storm to the lead on the opening lap. Verstappen, who was driving the Ferrari 296 GT3, followed his blistering start with two flawless stints, where he etched out a lead of over a minute.
Subsequently, teammate Lulham took over the steering and the Brit, largely faultless, coasted to victory. This earned the duo a very special record.
For Verstappen, this was his first GT3 race after obtaining his DMSB Permit Nordschleife in a GT4 car. The Formula 1 driver's performance largely impressed many, including fellow drivers who spoke highly of the Red Bull Racing star.
