Verstappen reacts for the first time to the Austrian Grand Prix
"I think it was, of course, a very good race for us. The first few laps were quite fun, and then it was basically just about trying to manage your tyres," the Dutchman said about the fight with Hamilton. "Honestly, I think the car was in quite a good window for, I would say, half of the race, and then we just picked up a few, let's say, issues with the car, which then prevented me from basically finding that nice rhythm. But still, to be second, that close to a win, I think is extremely positive for us. So in that sense, for sure, I'm very happy."
During qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix, Verstappen crashed at the end of Q3. After the session, the four-time world champion immediately said that he was okay, but after the race the Dutchman was again asked about his health: "I knocked my knees. You hit the bones. It's not very nice, but today was OK. So that was the most important."
At the start of the race, Verstappen and Hamilton got into a heavy battle, during which the Dutchman was pushed off the track by the Briton.
After a brief investigation by the stewards in Austria, it was decided that no further action was necessary for Hamilton.
