Max Verstappen is experiencing a lot this year, so luck doesn’t quite seem to be on his side yet. After qualifying in Austria, the Red Bull Racing driver joked about how he deals with all these setbacks. Max Verstappen
crashed at the end of Q3 during qualifying for the
Austrian Grand Prix. After the session, during the Dutch media session, including with
GPblog, the number of oddities and bad luck Verstappen had over the past weekend was listed:
“It’s been like that all year,” the Dutchman responded matter-of-factly.
Verstappen wants to unwind in Tibet
“I think I’ll go to Tibet at the end of the year. I’ll go like a Buddha and just completely relax for two months,” Verstappen said with a laugh as a solution to all the problems he is currently encountering in
Formula 1.
The Red Bull Racing driver was then asked whether these difficulties stem from the new technical regulations that came into effect this season: “It’s all super complicated with a lot of things. You drive out of the pits and the car stalls. You just have to count to ten. Or to a hundred,” said Verstappen.
Even just during this weekend in Austria, the Dutchman is running into a lot of problems. On Friday, Verstappen first stalled in the pit lane, after which something was wrong with the Red Bull Racing driver’s seat, forcing him to return to the pit lane for an adjustment. On Saturday, his earplugs and balaclava weren’t fitted correctly, which meant he had to head back to the pit lane again.
In qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix, Verstappen suddenly lost control of his RB22. After the session, the Dutchman said he didn’t quite understand what caused his crash. Verstappen said that he
suddenly lost the whole car and called it a strange moment. His teammate Isack Hadjar stated that it was due to the RB22’s rear wing.
