Speaking to media the likes of GPblog Cowell stated: "It won't take two years [to solve the correlation issues]," before quickly clarifying: "And that's not me and Adrian having a disagreement."
Aston Martin's current issues in F1 do not trouble Cowell
For the Aston Martin team principal it is simply a natural process of congifurating the tool to extract the most truthful data.
“That wasn't me dropping the glass. It just takes time to get these things dialed in but it's not years it's a few months. We were just talking in the debrief about 'what did the driver in the loop simulator say?', 'what did the track say?', there's a mismatch.' What do we do going forwards?”
The British CEO then outlined that Aston Martin simply had to tread carefully when making decisions set-up wise: “Well, we carry on using the driver in the loop simulator, but we're a little bit cautious about whether we deploy the setup changes.”
This adjustment period that the Silverstone-based team is currently undergoing can only bring the necessary trust in the tool's functioning to rely on it for future development.
“Over time you get confidence, so you use it as a development tool to get confidence and then it can lead your development. And that's the journey that we're going through, which I don't think is unusual to any team introducing a new tool”, concluded Cowell.
