Aston Martin's recently premiered signing, Adrian Newey, is in trackside for the Monaco GP weekend, and team boss and CEO Andy Cowell sheds light on the impact the acclaimed designer is already having in the British team. Whilst Newey remains solely focused on the 2026 car, he's currently trackside helping the British racing green coloured team pinpoint areas of improvements, says Cowell in conversation with media like GPblog.
"I think Adrian's been welcomed well in the factory back in March and welcomed well here, so it's great to have him here with the engineers during meetings, helping look at the way we look at data, the way we set the car up, and also in the garage seeing how everything's going together and the setup of the car."
Newey's effect on the team spreads beyond the F1 cars.
Newey's impact on the team is not only felt throughout the car and the tools however, as he's also playing a factor in the human side as well. "Everybody's really excited to have him on board on the whole team."
But how active has Newey's approach been so far in Monaco? Cowell explains: "He's got his notebook, he's looking intently at what's going on. The pencil's been scribbling in there, he and I have had the odd conversation and the jobs list gets bigger but it's all good positive actions to help us move forward."
Christian Horner, Newey's former boss at Red Bull Racing, also weighed in on the British designer's first appearance trackside for Aston Martin. You can read it
