Kelly Piquet has shared a personal message about her daughter Penelope, who celebrated her seventh birthday a month ago. The Brazilian writes about a difficult period during which she says she mainly wanted to offer her daughter peace, stability, and safety. Max Verstappen has liked his girlfriend’s emotional message.
Piquet reflected at length on Instagram on the birthday of her eldest daughter, who is often simply called ‘P’ within the family. While a birthday is usually a celebration, the period afterward was much tougher according to Piquet. “A month ago my P turned seven,” Piquet begins her message. “Birthdays should only be happy, but this birthday marked the beginning of a difficult month—a month that reminded me how much children deserve peace, stability, and emotional safety.”
Piquet does not go into specifics about what happened during that period and also does not name any individuals. However, she writes extensively about the lessons motherhood has taught her. She emphasizes that she has no control over the behavior and choices of others. “Motherhood has taught me that I have no control over how others behave and that I cannot force anyone to communicate, cooperate, or put a child’s needs first,” she continues.
“I can only decide what kind of mother I will be in all of that: staying calm when I really want to scream, absorbing the frustration so she doesn’t have to, reassuring her when she is confused, and reminding her that adults’ decisions are never her responsibility,” writes Piquet. She included several photos of Penelope with the text. Her fans noticed that she has often shielded her daughter’s face recently, but did not do so this time.

Verstappen likes Piquet’s emotional message
“Children notice more than we realize. They know who listens to them, who is there for them, and where they feel safe. In the end, consistent behavior and actions speak louder than words,” Piquet continues. Verstappen’s partner then writes that she mainly wants to focus on her daughter and the past seven years. “So today, now that I have her in my arms again, I choose to focus on what truly matters: seven beautiful years with this special girl and the privilege of being her mother.”
Piquet also addresses her daughter directly. “My P, I will always listen to you, stand up for you, protect your gentleness, and remind you that your feelings matter. I hope your seventh year brings you the peace, freedom, and carefree joy that every little girl deserves,” Piquet writes. Verstappen has liked his girlfriend’s post but has not left a comment. Fans of Verstappen and Piquet are expressing their support for the couple and for Penelope, even though it’s not clear what is going on.
Fans speculate about ex-boyfriend Kvyat
On social media there is plenty of speculation about what exactly Piquet means with her message. At the beginning of August, she also shared a personal message on her Instagram story, which seemed to take aim at someone who ‘constantly wants to be the center of attention’.

According to fans, it has something to do with her former partner and ex-F1 driver Daniil Kvyat—also Penelope’s father—and his new partner.
