Verstappen did not surprise Stroll: ‘I assume that helped’

Ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, it was announced that Verstappen will remain with Red Bull Racing until the end of the 2030 F1 campaign. The Dutchman has been frequently critical of the current generation of cars, and highlighted that he hopes the situation will be better by 2030.

Stroll was not surprised by Verstappen's contract extension despite how critical the Dutchman previously was. The Canadian said: "I assume he's making a lot of money, so I'm not surprised," he answered in response to GPblog's question, prompting laughter in the room.

He added: "But yeah, I mean, hopefully we just see the good Formula 1 cars come back soon."

After Aston Martin's update for the Hungaroring, Honda also brought changes to its engine for Zandvoort.

Stroll also addressed whether having a better car improves how drivers feel at the moment. "Yeah, it's two separate topics. I think there's the competitiveness, which is that the athlete, driver, we're all competitive.
