The one weather variable that may cause headaches for title contenders

Let’s take a look at the current weather forecast for today in Abu Dhabi as last qualifying of the year approaches.
Drivers are ready to hit the track on Saturday for what promises to be an electrifying final qualifying of the season — one that could already prove pivotal in the fight for the title.
Before we see who will claim pole, today will feature the final practice session — crucial for fine-tuning the setup ahead of parc fermé conditions.
Saturday’s weather is expected to be cloudier, with temperatures around 28°C for the day’s only practice session, dropping slightly to 26°C for qualifying. Rain is very unlikely, with less than a 20% chance.

For tomorrow’s race, conditions should remain dry, with the air temperature around 28°C. As the race takes place during sunset, track temperatures are expected to fall from roughly 44°C down to 30°C over the course of the event. Currently, there is no chance of rain.
One variable that could shake things up on Sunday is the wind. Gusts during the final session may reach up to 30 km/h, noticeably stronger than earlier in the weekend, which could pose a challenge for the title contenders.

What time does the Abu Dhabi GP start?

For the past fifteen years, Yas Marina has hosted the season finale, delivering unforgettable moments — from the dramatic 2021 showdown where Verstappen edged out Lewis Hamilton, to last year’s finale, when McLaren stole the Constructors’ Championship from Ferrari.
The first two sessions are in the books, with Lando Norris looking capable of holding his lead over Max Verstappen in the title fight, though the final outcome is still very much undecided.
Today marks the first crucial moment of the weekend: qualifying, with teams using the third practice session to fine-tune their cars ahead of the final qualifying of the season.
