George Russell had some concerns over the British Grand Prix weekend about Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari.
Mercedes and Ferrari are locked in a fierce battle for second in the Constructors' Championship, with the German team 12 points behind.
Every detail counts in this duel with such fine margins between the two teams, and Russell spotted Hamilton's tyres looking slightly less worn while on the track as the Ferrari passed him.
As they were gathering data throughout Friday practice, Russell spotted that the seven-time world champions' tyres looked healthier than his own.

Russell was concerned about Hamilton having better tyre wear

He said over the team radio, which wasn't broadcast in FP1: “His inside shoulders look far cleaner than ours at the rear.”
On race day, the tyre strategy was thrown into disarray as the British Grand Prix was affected by rain.
Mercedes was very aggressive with the strategy over the 52-lap race as they pitted for slicks on the formation lap.
Russell lined up fourth on the grid and had a lot to lose, and eventually saw the chequered flag in 10th place, taking just one point.
Despite the lacklustre result at his home event, Russell was able to etch his name into the list of victors during the 2025 season winning the Canadian Grand Prix in a strong lights-to-flag drive.
He remains without a contract for 2026, despite the Briton's strong results amid the uncertainty around Max Verstappen's future at Red Bull.
Neither Russell nor his teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli are signed up at Mercedes for the 2026 season.
The Mercedes driver will be looking to return to form next time out in Belgium. In 2024 Russell won the race on the track but got disqualified due to an infringement, which allowed Hamilton to inherit the victory.
There are two rounds to go before the summer break, with the race in Belgium followed by the Hungarian Grand Prix at Budapest.
