Russell: 'We are not there, usually. We should be proud of the job we did'

George Russell has been claiming many a merit this evening after a gutsy performance in the Styrian Grand Prix. The Williams driver was forced to retire from the race but was running in eighth place up until a cooling issue occurred.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the race the young Brit explained the sad position he and Williams were in following their retirement, but first explained his upset for the work the team put in before the race.

He went on to speak about the importance of points and a strong finish for the team, adding, "these four or six points are massive, probably the difference between P10 and P8 in the Constructors' Championship. I drove as fast as possible to keep a Ferrari, an AlphaTauri, a McLaren behind. We are not there, usually. We should be proud of the job we did."
