Craig Skinner is officially no longer employed by Red Bull Racing, GPblog understands. Since announcing his departure from the Austrian team, the British designer had been on gardening leave, but that period has now ended. As a result, nothing stands in the way of him starting with a new employer, which is likely to be Cadillac.
Skinner left Red Bull Racing earlier this year after spending more than twenty years with the Milton Keynes-based outfit. In recent years, the Briton served as chief designer, working in that role as Verstappen won three consecutive F1 drivers' titles from 2022 to 2024. His departure came as a surprise.

Cadillac is in pole position

A designer with Skinner's track record can count on plenty of interest from other teams. During the Dutch Grand Prix weekend, GPblog exclusively reported that Cadillac was trying to secure Skinner's signature.
The American outfit was already in advanced talks with him about a position at the team. Alpine also showed interest, but Skinner is said to prefer Cadillac.

With his definitive departure from Red Bull Racing, a move to Cadillac is now completely open. His arrival would also be a huge boost for the American team, which is currently focused on further building up its organization by bringing in several experienced figures from Formula 1.

Cadillac wants Paul Monaghan as well

Skinner’s arrival would once again highlight the ambitious plans of the new team. Paul Monaghan, Red Bull’s chief engineer, also remains a serious option for the newest team on the F1 grid.
Red Bull Racing would like to keep Monaghan, but he can earn more at Cadillac and take on a role higher in the team's hierarchy.
