Mercedes driver George Russell admitted that he "just wants to get through this weekend" as the Brit continues to struggle at the Miami Grand Prix. The 28-year-old has been well off the pace compared to teammate Kimi Antonelli throughout the weekend in South Florida, and that was clearly shown in qualifying, with the young Italian taking pole position while Russell languished down in P5.
The gulf in time between the to Mercedes drivers will be a worry for Russell, with Antonelli finding +0.499 of an advantage over the Brit at the end of Saturday's proceedings.
"I just made a mistake at the last corner on the last lap, I was about three-tenths up, and I'm a little bit annoyed, but this is a track I've always struggled with," Russell stated to GPblog and others in the Miami paddock.
"Kimi was on Sprint pole last year, I was P5, today he is on pole, and it is just very low grip here, it's sliding around a lot, similar to Brazil.
"I prefer the high grip conditions where the tyre and the car are more connected to the ground, so I just want to get through this weekend, really.
"I was pretty pleased with my pace, and obviously, if I did things slightly differently, I could have held the position when I initially overtook Kimi [in the Sprint Race], but it is just qualifying that I've been struggling with this weekend."

Russell's Miami woes continue
After laying down a championship-favourite marker with victroy at the Australian Grand Prix, Russell's campaign has stalled slightly after Antonelli's back-to-back race wins in China and Japan.
In Miami, the fine form for the young Italian has continued, and Russell has been unable to break out of this small slump, highlighted by another disappointing session at the end of qualifying.
It hasn't been the first time the Brit has
mentioned that the Miami circuit is not one of his favourites, doing so a day beforehand on Friday after finishing P6 in Sprint Qualifying, contributing to a challenging weekend.
