McLaren driver Lando Norris believes that he and his team "did a good job" after qualifying at the Miami Grand Prix. The 2025 World Champion won the Sprint Race but could only qualify P4 at the end of Saturday's proceedings. Kimi Antonelli
produced a stunning lap to take pole position, while Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc both improved to qualify ahead of Norris and push McLaren down the pecking order in terms of pace.
But despite this, Norris saw more positives than negatives for him and his team before Sunday's 57-lap race.
"I think we still did a good job. I think others just did a really bad job yesterday and just did the job they should have done today, honestly," the 2025 World Champion said to GPblog and others in the Miami paddock.
"Not too many complaints. It was certainly a bit trickier with the car today, with the wind and the temperatures. Maybe the car wasn't working quite as well.
"I certainly struggled a little bit more, for whatever reason. But not because we changed anything, it's just the conditions were a little bit different, and the others just did a job that they should do. I think we're where we deserve to be."
Norris believes McLaren outperformed themselves in the Sprint
A stunning Sprint Qualifying session on Friday saw Norris take victory in the Sprint Race on Saturday as McLaren flexed their muscles in Miami.
However, the Brit then fell to P4 in qualifying for Sunday's Grand Prix, with Antonelli, Verstappen and Leclerc all finding some extra pace compared to McLaren, as teammate Oscar Piastri finished down in P7 at the end of qualifying.
But despite dropping behind Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari in just one session, Norris believes that his performance is where McLaren should be in terms of pace.

"I don't think people gave us enough credit for how good a job we did yesterday, compared to the others," continued the 26-year-old.
"We were clearly quicker. That's why I was very, very happy with yesterday's performance and this morning's performance, that we maximised everything.
"I said yesterday already that it was close between the Mercedes. Around every corner, they were pretty much just as quick or quicker than we were. They just had some issues. Clearly, Max and the Red Bull are also very strong as well.
"We're not surprised, I'm not surprised. I don't think in terms of order and pace of the Mercedes we're surprised at all."
