Ricciardo needs risk awareness: 'You have to drive more strategically here'

The races in Formula 2 have already shown this weekend: Baku can be chaos. A lot of chaos. Or as Daniel Ricciardo put it Sunday morning at F1TV, "This is one of those races where you have to be there at the end, because anything can happen."

The always good-humoured McLaren driver starts from outside the top 10, but precisely because of the unpredictability of Baku, he sees chances for a good ranking. He starts the race with a somewhat different mindset than, for example, in Monaco. "There is a kind of risk awareness on the first lap," said the Australian.

The race is so long and a mistake is easily made. "When you see an opportunity, you go for it. But you know there's going to be more than one opportunity here. Chose the moment and you have to drive more strategically here," says Ricciardo.
