Daniel Ricciardo has made clear that he will wait before signing any deal for 2019 and beyond. The Australian is currently in the final year of his contract with Red Bull and there have been many rumours that he could be moving on at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old see's his next contract as possibly the last in his Formula One career so he is willing to wait to find the ideal seat. While team boss Christian Horner has said he wishes to continue on with Ricciardo past this season, the Perth native's search for a title-winning car could lead him away from the Milton Keynes-based outfit.
Speaking to SkyF1, Ricciardo stated that he felt the ball was very much in his court.
“I’m certainly going to take my time because I don’t feel like there’s a rush for anything.
“If we come out and win the first few races with Red Bull and they put a contract in front of me then maybe I will sign something pretty soon.
“I don’t really see myself racing till my mid- or late-30s in F1. So more so I want to make the next period of my career work and make it right – I’m not just happy ticking over and being here.
“If I can get a good deal with the right team, if that is Red Bull or someone else, then I feel it’s worth waiting.”
