Daniel Ricciardo left the Red Bull Racing team at the end of 2018 and therefore never made the switch to Honda engines. Ricciardo made the switch to Renault works team and has given his opinion on the relationship between the engine manufacturer and his former team.
As a former Red Bull driver and current Renault man, it is not surprising that the Australian was asked about the situation with his old team at the press conference prior to the Eifel Grand Prix.

Things could still work out with Renault

However, he does not want to talk too much about Honda's departure and he certainly does not want to rub it in with his old employer. For example, he does not want to say the words 'I told you so'. In any case, he hopes that Red Bull can find a solution.
One of the possible solutions is to enter into a new partnership with Renault. A collaboration that in his time with the team was anything but smooth. Ricciardo now knows Renault like no other and he thinks that the relationship can still be glued together. "It is not irreparably damaged," Ricciardo said.
