Max Verstappen would have decided long ago to stay with Red Bull Racing, but there are reasons why he does not want to give clarity about that. At least, that is what a British site reports, based on input from Red Bull Racing? Last week, GPblog reported that Max Verstappen prefers to stay with Red Bull Racing, but a switch to another team - most likely Mercedes - is not completely ruled out. With an eye on the future, Verstappen wants to see sporting and technical progress. Moreover, he wants to get rid of the internal unrest, which has been dividing Red Bull Racing for a year and a half.
PlanetF1, a medium known to be particularly close with Red Bull Racing, however, states that this is not true at all and Verstappen will definitely stay with Red Bull Racing. The reason Verstappen has not publicly stated his future lies with the Austrian team, according to the site, is because he wants to see his contract adjusted first.
'Verstappen does not want to leave Red Bull'
It is mentioned that Verstappen wants to expand the activities of his Verstappen.com Racing with the help of Red Bull. Verstappen would also like to have more freedom, for example, in commercial areas. This way, the website states, Verstappen could generate more revenue outside of Red Bull.
The source of PlanetF1 is speculative. As mentioned, due to the close ties with Red Bull Racing, it's conceivable that the team shared this information. However, GPblog has not heard from its sources that this is Verstappen's intention. The driver really wants a better car and for the internal conflicts within the team to stop.
Moreover, it's questionable whether being allowed to race in a GT car or having more freedom to have his own sponsors is really worth all the fuss about Verstappen's future. What is certain is that Mercedes would very much like to bring in the Dutchman, possibly as a replacement for George Russell.
