Ferrari might have topped the timetable in the last two days of testing, but Kimi Raikkonen has said that the Italian outfit haven't shown their outright pace yet.
Sebastian Vettel turned heads on Thursday by breaking the decade old track record of the Circuit de Catalunya, once set by Felipe Massa. The German posted a 1:17.182, which Raikkonen followed up on Friday with a 1:17.221. Even though both drivers were seemingly flexing their muscles using the new hypersoft-compound, the Ice Man suggests that there's more pace in the SF71H than we've seen until now.
"You can always improve," the always emotional Raikkonen explained. "If we want to go faster, we can for sure. No-one knows who's actually the fastest until we've had a race or two, but it was still a positive day for us. We had a good amount of laps and did little tests with the car."
"Overall I think we have a strong package. Obviously there's things to improve but that never changes no matter how good your car is. It feels very reliable."
Ferrari's main rival - Mercedes - haven't run on the new hypersoft compound, the Silver Arrows looked very strong in long-run pacing. Raikkonen is not too bothered about the significance of it all, though.
"I guess you always wish for a bit more here and there, laps and trying things," he continued. "It doesn't matter how many laps you do, you are always kinda wondering – there's endless possibilities to try things, but it doesn't mean it's a good thing to try a million things."
