Romain Grosjean broke the team record for most laps on a single testing day yesterday, logging 181 laps, while also ending fifth on the table with his lap time, just 1.1 second behind pace-setter Kimi Raikkonen.
The American team have enjoyed a very good two weeks of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya, which has resulted in the team having strong confidence in the pace and reliability of the car.
"It's been a long day, but it's been brilliant," said Grosjean after the final day of testing in Spain. "We did a lot of work with the car, which is really good. Earlier in the testing we missed having a good long run, and today I managed to get in a lot of laps."
"The team did a great job," the French veteran added. "We've got a lot of knowledge for Melbourne, and I can't wait for the season to kick off."
His boss, team principal Günther Steiner, felt very good about the way the last few days of testing went for his team. On Thursday, Kevin Magnussen managed to claim the second best time of the day, beating the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen.
Steiner was happiest, however, with the amount of distance covered in the last two days.
“I think we got as much out of the last two days as we could,” said the Italian with the most German name ever. “Today, we got a race distance in during the morning and another one in the afternoon.
“That’s what you want. The more you run, the more you learn.”
