Well, here we are. The final day of testing is over, and there's just over two weeks of silence before the Formule One season finally kicks off in Melbourne. Before we look ahead however, let's take a look back at what happened on the final day on the Circuit de Catalunya.
Not even an hour into the testing on Friday-morning, it was the same old story for
McLaren.
Fernando Alonso was forced to park his papaya-orange car on the same spot where he left it on Wednesday. We wouldn't see the two-time champ for another four hours, and he only managed to get 93 laps under his belt. The only positive to take away from today: Alonso put up the second best time on the hypersofts, an impressive 1:17.981.
Looking over to the most reliable team last season, Mercedes managed to drive 199 laps today between Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. They didn't flex their muscles with their lap-times, but the gps-data shows that they're 0.3 seconds ahead of Red Bull as of now.
Speaking of Red Bull, they had a quiet day. Just 90 laps for the Austrian team and Daniel Ricciardo. It's unsure whether the team endured problems or if they were running an alternative programme for the day.
The fastest time of the day came from
Ferrari again. Yesterday, Sebastian Vettel was the pace setter of the day, and today it was
Kimi Raikkonen who got around the quickest of them all, posting a 1:17.221, beating second-placed Alonso by 0.7 seconds.
These last two weeks will have to do until the season kicks of in two weeks. We can't wait until the whole circus travels to sunny Australia, and until the season *finally* gets going! We'll see you there!
