Oscar Piastri played down the disappointment of missing out on the title in Abu Dhabi with a joke.
“I think it’s worn us pretty thin — not quite as thin as our planks in Las Vegas...”

The Australian referenced the dramatic finale to the Las Vegas Grand Prix, when both McLarens were disqualified for excessive plank wear — a setback that allowed Max Verstappen to surge back into the title fight, even if it ultimately came to nothing.
In a video circulating on social media, the Aussie said: “I think this year’s been pretty tiring at points. And I think it’s worn us pretty thin — not quite as thin as our planks in Las Vegas...”
The quip sparked laughter among those present, with Piastri urging everyone to “laugh about it now.”

Herbert sees Piastri eyeing exit from McLaren after Norris’ title triumph

The Australian was the most bitterly disappointed of the three drivers involved in the title fight, having ended the season third in the standings after leading the championship for as many as fifteen races.
He went all in at the Abu Dhabi finale, immediately passing his team-mate at the start and committing to an alternative strategy, but ultimately had to concede defeat to the Briton’s race win.
