Perez optimistic: 'Think the car feels good'

The day started well for Sergio Perez with the announcement of his contract extension, but in the free practice sessions at Spa-Francorchamps, he is still a little behind.

The teammate of Max Verstappen finished sixth in FP1 and only tenth in FP2, almost one second behind Verstappen. Nevertheless, the Mexican sounds positive about the rest of the weekend.

"I think the car feels good. We have good potential for the weekend. We should be able to drive a good qualifying," Perez told Sky Sports' camera.

Spa is known for having very changeable weather. The chance of rain remains present for the rest of the weekend, something the teams are also taking into account. "The weather is in the back of our minds, but we have to analyse the best data tomorrow," said Perez.
