Both drivers are aiming to become world champions for the first time, as
McLaren has given them the quickest car in the field.
The pair have won nine of the 12 Grands Prix so far as championship leader Piastri sits 69 points ahead of third place Max Verstappen.
There is
an eight-point gap between the two McLaren drivers after 12 rounds as the title battle hangs in the balance.
Former Formula 1 driver
Jolyon Palmer thinks Piastri has been impressive in turning things in his favour. Although the 34-year-old feels Norris needs to find the form from last year that led McLaren to the Constructors' Championship.
He told the
F1 Nation podcast:
"I think the fact that Oscar has managed to turn this around, even if they were split level, I think that's a win for Oscar right now after 12 races. So he's been very impressive. The question is then going to be about momentum and whether Lando can just find that form again that he showed last year to take it away."McLaren "was a Norris team" in 2024
Palmer continued, saying Piastri has been marginally better so far this year: "He's [Piastri] done a slightly better job. You've got to remember also where he's come from. This was a Norris team, really, last year."
"I know he had some great days, a couple of wins, but Lando was the number one. He won the Constructors' for them on the final day, winning the race, and he always seemed like he was going to be ahead. And then Melbourne came, and he delivered a win from pole position as well."
With just eight points between the pair, the title battle is finely poised ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix next time out.
