Lando Norris took the checkered flag in P1 at his home race, the British Grand Prix, which gave way for 'a very selfish moment,' observed the Briton. Speaking after the 52-lap race around
Silverstone, Norris described all the emotions and sensations surrounding his win, that althouh lacked tears, didn't have any shortage of helmet-hidden smiles.
"The last two laps, looking up at the fans and seeing them on their feet and cheering – these are moments that no one really gets, none of you guys get to witness," said Norris to media including GPblog.
British GP win, is the 'most selfish' and best ever victory for Norris
"This is something that I and very few others, especially Brits, get to witness," the
McLaren driver said.
"It's a very selfish moment, but it's one of the most special, the most incredible, because it's such a rare thing that someone gets to feel and to see and to witness. For me, the best win." The win for Norris came into play when his teammate Oscar Piastri had to relinquish the lead to serve a penalty he was handed for a safety car inringement. "Maybe not the best way to win, I'm not going say it's my best win, that's not true," he explained.
"But in terms of what it means to win here at home, the want, the desire to do it in front of my own grandstand, my family, my friends, McLaren, His Royal Highness is here, to win in front of all of them and to make amends for last year makes it all even more special. So, yep, very memorable," he concluded.
