For the first time since the Grand Prix of Australia at the beginning of this season, Lando Norris has managed to qualify himself for pole position for the Grand Prix of Monaco. The British McLaren driver starts the race on the narrow streets of Monaco full of confidence.
The qualification in Monaco was particularly exciting. In the third part of the qualification, the McLaren team decided to head to the track early, allowing them to run three fast laps in Q3. This strategy ultimately yielded the pole position for Lando Norris, ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
"I don't think I've ever doubted what I can do," Norris reflected after the qualification during the press conference. "Of course, I've been frustrated. I have been unhappy, because that's normal. If you don't win, if you don't get the pole position, you're not happy, especially not when that's where you should be. After all, it's the goal. So, of course, I've had those moments. But I've never, certainly not this year, doubted what I can do. And a day like today completely confirms that. So, I'm satisfied with it."

Why Norris Stepped Back from Social Media

Norris recently decided to no longer be active on social media in order to focus more on his Formula 1 performances. To what extent has this decision helped the McLaren driver this weekend? " It's impossible to say exactly," he explains. "But I still enjoy it... I still have my accounts, I still have social media, I still post things and such."
"I still use it to message my friends and keep in touch with people, and that's that. I'm very, very happy with it because otherwise, it feels like a waste of my life. I have better things to focus on. There have been a lot of things I needed to focus on and wanted to improve on. There are many factors that contribute to a day like today. I can definitely say this is one of them. So, I'm happy. Everyone should do what feels right for themselves, but for myself, I'm happy to take a step back from it."

Will Piastri Help His Teammate in Monaco?

With Norris in pole position and championship leader Oscar Piastri in third place on the starting grid, the big question is whether the Australian is willing to help his teammate in Monaco. He already made a joke about it. "It depends on how much he pays me," laughed Piastri during the press conference.
Norris responded to this remark. "Charles told me he would help Lewis secure the victory," but his teammate sees it differently. "I just want to win the race too. So let's see how it goes. I think it promises to be a chaotic race," Piastri predicted.
