McLaren will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing result in Baku with a strong weekend in Singapore, a venue where the team proved unbeatable last year.
“The entire team both at track and back in Woking are motivated to continue adding important points into both Championships.”

Speaking on the eve of the Singapore weekend, Lando Norris said: “I’m looking forward to racing under the lights again in Singapore. It was good to be back in Woking after Baku, resetting with the team and spending time in the sim.
“I’ve got good memories here - a podium and a win last year - so I’m ready to go for it again.”
Piastri, meanwhile, is aiming to make amends after his disastrous DNF in Baku: “I’m very keen to get back in the cockpit. On paper, and with the temperatures involved in Singapore, our car has been proven to be comfortable in the past, and with that in mind, I’m looking forward to a really positive weekend.
“Singapore is the closest race to Australia in terms of distance, so we always see a great Australian contingent there cheering on their drivers at one of the best night races of the season. It’s great having that additional support.”

Finally, Andrea Stella is hoping to relive the highs of last season, when Norris dominated the field with a commanding performance over all his rivals: “After a week away from the track, we now head to Singapore.
“The Marina Bay Street Circuit brings unique challenges, especially from a human performance element due to the high humidity and time shift for both team and drivers.
“Returning to the location of an impressive win for Lando last year, it’s also a higher-downforce street circuit than Baku, with higher tyre degradation in 2024, which should better suit the characteristics of the MCL39. The entire team both at track and back in Woking are motivated to continue adding important points into both Championships.”

Norris, the dominant force of the 2024 Singapore GP

Last year, Norris started from pole ahead of Max Verstappen, keeping the lead into Turn 1 before reeling off fastest lap after fastest lap to build a huge gap over the four-time world champion.
The Briton’s race, however, was not entirely smooth, as two small mistakes could have proved costly — though luckily they went unpunished.
Piastri, meanwhile, began further down the order but managed to climb through the field on a track historically known for its overtaking difficulties, eventually finishing on the podium. Read the full recap of the 2024 edition here.
