Leclerc given this special Olympic honour after Monaco win

Charles Leclerc is set to get involved with the Olympics this week, as he becomes the first torchbearer of the Olympic flame in Monaco. The event will take place around 2:15pm on 18 June during his visit to the Principality.

Leclerc is set to take part in the Olympic torch relay. On X, Radio Monaco announced the news: "We are still buzzing with his historic victory at the Monaco Grand Prix and the Formula 1 driver will have the honour tomorrow of carrying the Olympic flame during his visit to the Principality from 2.15pm."

The Olympic games officially begin in France on 26 July. By carrying the torch, the Ferrari driver becomes the second Formula One driver in history to do so. Lewis Hamilton became the first in 2012 when the Olympic games were hosted in London. Leclerc will be the first torchbearer in Monaco, and was chosen as a result of winning his home Grand Prix at the end of May.
