Lawson loud and clear: 'I want that F1 seat, I don't have it now'

AlphaTauri driver Liam Lawson scored two points for his Italian constructor in Singapore. These were the New Zealand driver's first points in the king class of motorsport. Despite his performance, the 21-year-old driver from New Zealand's Hastings did not manage to secure a place in a Formula 1 car at AlphaTauri.

Lawson recently scored his first points, yet the AlphaTauri driver is "not satisfied". The New Zealander told Formula1.com, "I want to be in the seat, and I don’t have one right now. So, it’s basically doing the best job I can each time I get in the car, and I’ll basically keep doing that for as long as I am driving," Lawson continued.

Lawson is the replacement for the injured Daniel Ricciardo, who still managed to secure a seat for the '24 season. Together with Yuki Tsunoda, he will complete the line-up for next season. After that Formula 1 season, three of the four Red Bull seats will be open, as only Max Verstappen will remain fixed. Lawson will act as a reserve driver for both Red Bull and AlphaTauri next season.
