Christijan Albers thinks that simply firing Christian Horner isn’t enough to clean house at Red Bull Racing. The former F1 driver also calls for Helmut Marko to be held accountable.
On De Telegraaf’s Formula 1 podcast, Albers talked about Horner’s departure, saying it will likely stir up more turmoil within the team rather than bring stability. He believes someone else needs to be shown the door as well.
Marko could well have played a role in Horner's dismissal, according to Albers: ‘’With all due respect, but Marko might have orchestrated that. He was the confidant of (Dietrich) Mateschitz. Both did well, but I think it's time Marko also reaches his expiration date.’’

Should Marko stay with Red Bull?

‘’Hearing some of his statements, they're out of touch with the times. I wonder if he should stay in that position. Maybe it's time for a radical change and to usher in a new generation.’’
When Erik van Haren tells him that Marko is no longer involved in the daily operations at Red Bull, Albers counters: ''He still leaves his mark on all the drivers and I find that to be a very significant factor. In his interviews, I don't find him tactical. And now you might say: ‘he was never tactical’, but now I find it to be excessively harsh, and that does not benefit the team.’’
Still, at this point, Marko seems to be the last person Red Bull will fire. Press releases made it clear that Marko and Oliver Mintzlaff are now making the decisions at Red Bull, since they were among others thanked by Alan Permane in his statement.
