Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes both had complaints about the engine temperatures after the Australian Grand Prix, and Mercedes have done their best to improve on their cooling design during the two-week break.
Every team, of course, wants the least cooling as possible in a closed off car, as it takes away from the performance. Mercedes seem to have overdone it though, as their cars struggled to not overheat during the Australian Grand Prix.
"I was on the limit, pushing, but always nervous of damaging the engine at the same time," Hamilton said after the race.
"I cooled it down and then when I got relatively close, it came back.
"So I was constantly being pushed and pulled."
"I couldn't put pressure on other cars, I could only follow for two laps and then back off and try again," Bottas added.
Mercedes have been busy fixing the problem. As you can see in the tweet below, the German team have provided the cars with what's being called a chimney, in order to have more air circulation in the engine room, which should cool the engine sufficiently. Let's see if it pays off this weekend!
