Martin Brundle was surprised at the "impressive" Brad Pitt after the Hollywood superstar made his debut behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car.
As a result of the recent blockbuster, F1: The Movie, Pitt was invited to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, by McLaren to try his hand at driving an F1 car himself.
The papaya-coloured team got him driving the MCL60, the 2023 challenger that both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris drove, with the latter also on site.
Brad Pitt was seen throughout the grid and in the paddock during the 2023 and 2024 seasons for the filming of F1: The Movie.

Brundle sees Pitt excel behind the wheel

Along with Pitt, Brundle, who drove for McLaren in 1994, was also invited down to drive McLaren's 2023 car, with the former driver and now pundit surprised at how well the 61-year-old actor took to the task of driving an F1 car.
"He (Pitt) was good, he was solid out there. It's not easy to just jump in. There's a lot going on," the Brit said to Sky Sports.
"It was a magnificent experience, and I thought Brad was a lovely bloke who did a great job in there.
"I asked him if he fancied a bit of racing, and he'd obviously thought about it, he was like, 'I'm not sure about the side-to-side, the wheel-to-wheel racing.'"
As of July 15, 2025, F1: The Movie grossed a worldwide total of $399.5 million, with Pitt not having to use any of that for potential damages, such was his control of the MCL60.
"He was impressive. It was my 73rd F1 car, it was his first, and he didn't crash it," continued Brundle.
"There was a point when I was getting a briefing on how to start it up and which clutch paddle to pull and all that, and he just pulled up a chair and just sat and listened, because he just wanted to know more and more.
"It was one of the best days of my TV career, no, it wasn't, it was the best!", concluded the Brit.
