Max Verstappen has been told by boss
Christian Horner to “hit the reset button” going into the Canadian Grand Prix. Verstappen crashed in FP3 last weekend, ruining his chances of qualifying on pole at Monaco.
The Dutchman has faced plenty of criticism over the past few weeks for his incidents so far this season. For Red Bull, he has cost their title chances dearly and boss Horner wants him to change.
“He needs to go away from this weekend and reflect on what could have been, what should have been and apply that for the future,” Horner said whilst speaking to Autosport.
“He has a very good teacher in the car next door to him. Max has an abundance of talent. He’s had some harsh lessons, obviously, this year and I think a modified approach would benefit.”
Nico Rosberg was amongst the few former drivers who suggested Verstappen needed to change his game. Max denied he needed the criticism.
“Giving away points and damage is expensive on two counts,” added Horner.
“When you get into a spiral you try harder. You have to press the reset button.”
