Honda will take a more cautious approach to introducing their upgrades at the Canadian Grand Prix. Honda technical director Toyoharu Tanabe has prioritised reliability over immediate performance and is weary of any failures that could occur.
Speaking to Motorsport.com, Tanabe said he was pleased with how the season had gone so far but was mindful that reliability issues that plagued Honda when they were with McLaren could change all that.
"So far it (reliability) looks stable but I think we need to be careful not push too hard on the performance. We need balance.
"We have a lot of things to do and not many short-term solutions, most are long-term. (If) we develop something and then apply it to the engine, we need to have a reliability test.
"Any tiny thing to improve the performance, we need time."
