Two-time world champion
Mika Hakkinen has written in his column on
Unibet that
Kimi Raikkonen probably would have won a race already if
Ferrari would've handled their strategies differently
Raikkonen has shown incredible pace this season, as the Finn qualified in second all three times so far this season. He was unlucky with the whole pitstop-debacle in Bahrain as he was in real contention to win that race, plus he couldn't do anything about the incident as he just pulled away when he saw the green light as he should.
In China, Raikkonen was pretty much sacrificed to fend off any cars that would try to pass him, as he was driving in first but on his first pair of tyres, which were very worn at that point as everyone behind him had already pitted. Instead of giving him a chance to really go for wins, Raikkonen is playing second fiddle to Vettel again, to the dislike of fellow Finnish F1 veteran Mika Hakkinen.
"If the Ferrari strategy had been handled a bit differently, I think he could already have won a race this year," he wrote.
"He's pushing Vettel very hard."
It is a real shame to not see Raikkonen contending for wins, as he's clearly shown he still has the pace at his age to do so, racking up another podium finish in China even though he was sacrificed for Vettel's winning hopes.
