FP2 summary and results: Hamilton completes practice double

Lewis Hamilton improves the confidence in the Mercedes garage after completing a Friday practice double. Hamilton finished top of the timesheets posting a 1:33.482

There was no change in the top three from the morning session as Kimi Raikkonen split the silver arrows once more.

Sebastian Vettel finished 4th just 0.108 behind the leading Brit.

The rain became more intense with eight minutes left in the session resulting in most cars returning to the pits early.

The Ferrari cars started the practice session with the intention of fine-tuning many parts of the car. The Ferrari cars left the garage with numerous cameras pointing at the halo and front wings as well as other areas.

Ricciardo was experiencing issues with his brakes. He reported on the team radio “felt like the pedal was long.”

The session had been rather straightforward with little drama to report until McLaren released Stoffel Vandoorne unsafely.

Vandoorne stopped on track reporting that his right rear tyre wasn’t on properly. The team practised a ‘live’ pitstop prior to the incident.

Yet another failed pitstop in 2018.
