Alonso claims fans are "expecting" too much of McLaren

Fernando Alonso spent the whole of pre-season talking McLaren up suggesting that we will see them compete with the top teams. Alonso is now confused as to why his fans are expecting so much.

After the first two races, it looks as if Haas, Renault and possibly Toro Rosso are faster than McLaren.

Despite this, they are third in the constructors' standings. Likely as a result of finding more consistency between their two drivers.

“I don’t really know what exactly people were expecting from one season to another where the regulations stay the same,” said Alonso who was aiming for 100% in Q3.

The start of 2018 has been much improved for McLaren when looking back to 2017.

But this increase isn’t as much it sounded when Alonso was making his claims.
