Speaking at a press conference on the eve of a league match, Mourinho said: "Benfica's history shows that it has lagged behind at times, but most of the time it doesn't.
"Lewis Hamilton lagged behind in the last two F1 seasons, but he won seven or eight championships, the F1 driver with the most titles. Benfica is also the club with the most cups in Portugal." The Briton is coming off the most difficult season of his career. During his first season with

Hamilton cleared of blame for tough 2025 as main issue pinpointed
Former Michael Schumacher engineer Luigi Mazzola believes the bulk of the responsibility for Hamilton’s underwhelming 2025 campaign at Ferrari lies more with the team rather than the driver.
The Italian acknowledged that Hamilton was not entirely blameless, but stressed that Ferrari failed to provide him with the consistency, support and technical tools required to get the best out of his abilities during a difficult adaptation phase.
Mazzola also pushed back against criticism aimed at race engineer Riccardo Adami, who has frequently been thrust into the spotlight this season after a number of tense radio exchanges.
