On two occasions Alexander Albon was almost on the podium. Last year in Brazil and this year in Austria, and twice Albon went into a spin following a battle with Hamilton. This time, Albon finally took his first podium at Mugello, behind Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.

Apologies' from Hamilton

It has been a struggle for Albon to finally get on that podium because where it didn't work out twice before, on Sunday it finally happened for Max Verstappen's teammate. The only real move he had to make to achieve that was to pass Daniel Ricciardo, which he did in an artful way.
In the press conference afterwards, Albon said: "It's a good feeling to finally get that podium", referring to the times that it just didn't work out. Hamilton is of course aware of the fact that he has been responsible twice for the failure and responded quickly with "Sorry about that."
Albon could have had it and finished it with a smile. Nevertheless, Albon finally achieved what he wanted to achieve: a podium place.
