Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will become the first Formula 1 drivers to run current F1 cars at the Madring circuit, which was built for the 2026 season. Ferrari is set to hold a filming day in the Spanish capital on Thursday, it was confirmed to GPblog.
Ferrari is set to complete a filming day at the newest circuit on the Formula 1 calendar in two days' time. The Madring circuit begins hosting the Spanish Grand Prix in 2026. The Formula 1 weekend at the track is scheduled to take place from 11 to 13 September.
After both drivers stood on the podium at Silverstone, Leclerc and Hamilton will become the first drivers to complete a full lap of the Madring circuit in a current Formula 1 car. Previously, in 2025, Carlos Sainz completed a showrun in a Williams on one of the circuit's straights before driving a Mustang around the full layout earlier this year.

Hamilton reveals Leclerc adopted his setup approach ahead of British GP victory

The seven-time world champion said Leclerc "migrated" towards his setup approach before his first win of the season at the British Grand Prix.
Hamilton explained: "Up until now, we really have been making such great progress. And what gives me confidence is coming into this weekend, the simulator said that we should start in a much different place with the set-up, and my engineers and I decided to stay within the direction that we would normally go.
"Charles started the way it was, but the sim would say to go, and then [it] ended up my philosophy and the direction that I was taking was ultimately the right one, and he migrated that way. It's good to see that direction that I have pushed for is paying off and that we've just got to continue to make changes and continue to push.
"We've got to continue to bring upgrades. Spa is going to be long straights, but ultimately, I've got to do a better job than I did this weekend," the seven-time F1 world champion concluded.
