Marc Marquez has given his thoughts on his chances at this weekend's German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, one of his most successful career circuits. Speaking post-race with GP Blog at Assen, Marquez gave his thoughts on his current struggles and physical condition, as well as how he expects to fare on a slightly more favourable circuit.
The 2026 title battle has truly been blown wide open after the last couple of rounds, with former leader Bezzecchi's comfortable gap now obliterated while his teammate Jorge Martin has taken a slender lead. Marquez, despite his injury troubles, has remarkably managed to keep himself in the fight, and the Sachsenring could be the make-or-break track that determined whehter he will retain his crown or not.
I expect to feel better there [Sachsenring].
- Marc Marquez speaking to GP Blog at Assen
Due to the shorter nature of the track and it's left-hand dominated corners, which favour Marquez, many expect this to be another round where Marquez can make up big points on the Aprilia's ahead, just as he did in both Hungary and the Czech Grand Prix last month.
With slightly underwhelming results at Mugello and Assen, Marquez spoke to GP Blog about his physical recovery and how he expects to fare at the Sachsenring compared to those larger, more physically demanding circuits. When asked about his title chances given that the top five riders are now separated by just 40 points, Marquez gave the following reply:

"I feel like I'm not the strongest one and I'm not the fastest one, but [it's like] nobody wants to be the fastest one. So at the moment it's five names in the championship that are fighting every race there."
As for his chances in the Sachsenring compared to Assen, Marquez gave this assessment:
"Let's see [about the Sachsenring], we will understand what we can do there, and of course I expect to feel better there than here [Assen]."

Marquez's insane record at the Sachsenring

Marquez has an incredible record at the German track, winning nine MotoGP races here and twelve in total across all classes. Even during the rut of his darkest Honda days, Marquez still managed to pull off a spectacular comeback win in 2021, and when fully fit he has been practically unstoppable in the hillside circuit.
Marquez has won the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2025 races here and will be looking to add 2026 to that list this weekend.
