From Lando Norris putting an end to breakup rumours, to what we know about the upcoming April meetings, here are the main stories from today, April 8. Lando Norris puts an end to breakup rumors with Portuguese model
A video in Bahrain of Carlos Sainz and Norris, had appeared to pick up the latter saying he was a "single man," but the audio was rather unclear, and a recent public appearance has confirmed the two are still together.
With F1 currently on a five-week break due to the US-Iran conflict, particular attention is being paid to what the drivers get up to before the next race in Miami in May.
Norris flew to Corceiro's native Portugal, specifically to the Estadio Jose Alvalade to watch Sporting CP host Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League with the Portuguese model.
The two were rumoured to be dating for some time before confirming the relationship with a kiss at the Hungarian GP after Norris' victory.
Corceiro often visited Norris at race weekends throughout the 2025 campaign, and was there for the emotional scenes of the Briton's first world championship victory at the Abu Dhabi season finale.
Norris and Verstappen won't get their wishes: No major changes for Miami GP
Meanwhile, GPblog has learned that F1 are currently pleased with the new regulations and the racing it has served up, after a fan poll judged racing more positively compared to the situation a year ago.
Nonetheless, one of three technical meetings is set to take place on Thursday, where a range of issues are likely to be discussed, such as qualifying, energy deployment, safety concerns due to closing speeds, among other aspects.
While drivers will not have a seat at the table during these meetings, GPblog understands that their views will also be represented as they have provided their feedback.
This comes despite
Lewis Hamilton commenting at the Japanese GP drivers that "
don't have any power," while Norris expressed similar feelings, and that as long as fans 'enjoy the show,' change is unlikely to occur.
Max Verstappen, of course, has been the most critical of the 2026 generation of F1 cars, sarcastically comparing them to 'Mario Kart' but also threatening to leave the sport over whether or not the racing is currently "
worth it."
