Kimi Antonelli became the youngest driver to lead the drivers' championship in Japan, but it is not something on the Italian talent's mind. Thanks to his second victory in a row at the Japanese Grand Prix, Antonelli now leads the drivers' standings ahead of his teammate, George Russell. He currently stands at nine points after three rounds.
Still, that is not Antonelli's focus. "No, I’m not worrying about that, to be fair. I’m just going to focus on myself, on what I need to do, trying to get everything right in terms of procedure, starts, driving. I know how strong George is and for sure it’s going to be very hard," he said.

During the weekend in Japan, Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur explained that it is important for the Scuderia to score good points, because a new championship could begin in Miami.
Mercedes CEO and team boss Toto Wolff agreed with the Frenchman about the possibility of a completely new championship starting in the state of Florida.

People have learned now, teams and drivers are starting to learn how to optimize the systems to their benefit. And we've seen that first indication."
Antonelli also had a similar verdict about Mercedes' rivals getting closer. He continued: "Plus, I think Ferrari and McLaren, they will get closer, so it’s going to be important to stay on top of the game, as I said before, keep raising the bar.
"But I’m not focusing on or worrying about this at the moment. Just obviously happy with how things went today, and yeah, just going to try to make the best out of the break and trying to see how I can improve those areas in order to be back stronger," he concluded.
After no Grands Prix in April due to the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GPs, the season continues in May with the Miami GP.
