Following a five-week hiatus,
Formula 1 returned with the
Miami Grand Prix. The Florida event saw media day take centre stage, with several drivers airing their thoughts ahead of the on-track action over the weekend. The Miami race serves as the first litmus test of the several tweaks made by the FIA to the regulations.
That aside, the race is also poised to usher in a flurry of upgrades, with several teams believed to have brought several updates to their cars into the race weekend. What team will perform best in Florida? I guess only time will reveal this.
With extreme weather forecast for Sunday at the Miami Grand Prix, Formula 1 drivers have shared their views on the possibility of racing in wet conditions under the current regulations.
Both
Carlos Sainz and
Kimi Antonelli, when asked about their concerns regarding wet-weather running at the Miami circuit, spoke about their enthusiasm for racing in the rain. However, they were also quick to underline the safety risks such conditions could pose, while suggesting potential changes that could help improve racing in the wet.The pair acknowledged that adjustments may be needed to support safer wet-weather racing. They also pointed to the risk of aquaplaning on a circuit prone to standing water, as well as the ongoing visibility issues faced by drivers.
Max Verstappen also echoed his thoughts on the tweaks made to the regulations ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. The
Red Bull Racing driver, who has consistently been vocal about perceived flaws in the current ruleset, again shared his perspective after the FIA introduced a series of adjustments ahead of the race weekend in Florida.
The Dutch driver, however, chose to emphasise what he sees as a key positive from the situation – the ongoing dialogue between the FIA, Formula 1, and the drivers. The four-time world champion suggested that this improved communication could serve as a foundation for future regulation changes.
