F1 race director to consider rule changes for penalties

Formula 1's race director, Michael Masi, has suggested that the sport may look to change rules relating to penalties for going off the track and gaining an advantage, or rejoining the track dangerously.

These types of penalties have been given to Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo in the last two races in Canada and France, and the decisions have been widely criticised in the F1 world.

And now Masi has hinted that a solution could be found for 2020, if the teams agree.

According to F1i.com, Masi said: "I think if all the teams agree with it, it is no different to any other set of regulations.

The one disappointing thing perhaps is that these rules will not be amended this season. Masi added: "My view is we have got a rule book there, and the rule book is the one we have got for the entire 2019 season.
