Former
Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo says that
Ferrari's decision to use a matte paint is a step away from the "sacred" Ferrari red.
The ex-team boss was in charge of the Scuderia throughout their last run of dominance in the early 2000s with Michael Schumacher at the wheel.
In search of restoring the team to the top of the pile in Formula One, the Prancing Horse has left no stone unturned going into the 2019 season and has even switched the type of paint they use to coat the car.
It is a move that has produced a dissatisfied former boss with the colour looking more orange at times than the traditional Ferrari red.
"The Ferrari red, in my opinion, is sacred, it is a brand recognised across the world and therefore I do not really like it," he explained to TuttoSport.
"It is like changing the colour of a flag and I am not convinced by the story that in doing so we have saved some weight.
"If all this should lead to a long-awaited success, then I would be willing to put aside the sorrow for the colour," he added.
