Lewis Hamilton endured a difficult day last time out in Singapore, and Jamie Chadwick feels he should've had more than a five-second penalty for multiple track limit violations.
I think that [cutting corners] is probably worth more than a five-second penalty."
- Jamie Chadwick
Hamilton stuttered to seventh place at the chequered flag with brake issues. The Ferrari driver was given a five-second time penalty, which dropped him to eighth, behind Fernando Alonso.
Chadwick explained on the F1 Show that she feels Hamilton shouldn't have cut the course and the time penalty was too lenient.
She said: "He didn’t have no brakes. If he had no brakes, he would have been in a whole world of… I think Lewis shouldn’t have cut corners.
"Categorically, I think that’s probably worth more than a five-second penalty, because he probably gained more than five seconds with the corners he was cutting.
“If he could safely have bought it across the line, which I think he did, apart from the fact he was cutting the corners, I.e., not causing Fernando big issues, whatever, then that’s one thing."

Fernando Alonso was livid as he crossed the line just behind Hamilton, as he failed to take advantage of the ailing Ferrari on the track.
Chadwick continued that Alonso was highlighting the safety aspect: “I think Fernando’s playing on the point that, there’s certain other things that have to be in check to pass scrutineering, whether it’s a mirror, you get black and white, black and orange flagged.
"If those parts fail, then he should have been disqualified, and that should have been that."

Hamilton says his relationship with Vasseur has been positive

The 40-year-old took a significant risk this season to move from Mercedes to Ferrari in search of an eighth world championship.
