The F1 movie starring Brad Pitt has
brought in no less than $144.000.000 worldwide during its opening weekend.
Thus, F1: The Movie is not only the best performing movie of the
moment but also the most successful cinema release ever for the American as
a leading actor.
F1 on its way to become the most successful racing movie ever
The movie, directed by Top Gun: Maverick creator Joseph
Kosinski and co-produced by
Lewis Hamilton, premiered last
weekend with great success so far. In North America alone, it raised $55.600.000 so far. Internationally, the number stands at $88.400.000.
The expectations beforehand were high, but the
opening weekend far exceeded them. The production, a collaboration with Apple Original Films, is estimated to have cost between $200.000.000 and $300.000.000, with an additional $175.000.000 for global marketing.
Yet, the project is not solely dependent on ticket sales revenues: the film is also intended to attract subscribers for Apple TV+, where F1:
The Movie will be available later this year. Furthermore, part of the
budget was gathered through sponsorship from APX GP, the fictional F1 team Sonny Hayes (Pitt) and Joshua Pierce (Damson Idris) compete for.

Historically, racing movies have performed at different rates at the
box office.
'Rush' brought in $98.200.000 worldwide in 2013 with a budget of only $38.000.000.
'Ford v Ferrari' from 2019 did better, generating $225.000.000 in revenue with a budget of $97.600.000.
At the current rate, the
F1 movie could be set to easily surpass those figures in the theaters.
