Mattia Binotto has shared his thoughts on the Red Bull engine compared to Audi’s for the 2026 season. "I think they’ve got more specific skills.”
- Mattia BinottoThe 56-year-old appeared cautiously optimistic, noting the challenges in directly comparing the engines of both teams. However, Binotto emphasised Audi’s extensive expertise in engine development, which he believes will pay off in the long term.
"I think they’ve got more specific skills. We have the background of Audi, the knowledge of Audi, which in the long term will certainly make the difference,” Binotto said via Reuters.

Talks about the Audi team engine have also surfaced, with the German outfit set to launch its next season challenger in January 2026.

The former Scuderia Ferrari team principal also stressed that the hype around the Audi engine is a little out of proportion.
Binotto emphasised the need for patience, highlighting that it remains Audi’s maiden year in
Formula 1.
"I think we need patience. We are still in the building phase. I’m not expecting to have the best engine next year at all, but that’s fine because we know our objectives are set for 2030. We don’t intend to be a surprise next year,” he concluded.
