Aston Martin’s Mike Krack warns against hoping for a magical turnaround by the Miami Grand Prix.
The Silverstone-based team had a difficult start to the season with their new Honda power unit. In the first two rounds, Aston Martin cars failed to finish either race. Fernando Alonso only managed to reach the finish line for the first time in Suzuka.
Due to the ongoing Middle East conflict between the United States and Iran, both the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix were cancelled, giving Formula 1 teams a month-long break.

Krack doesn't expect miracles to happen

Aston Martin's Chief Trackside Officer said that a sudden turnaround shouldn't be expected from his team by the Miami GP.
He explained: "Like I said already in Shanghai, we cannot produce miracles in two weeks and you cannot produce miracles in five week. It is continuous work.
"We have seen with our issues that we had since Barcelona that if you work hard in three months and it is two months actually, we have managed to improve the reliability to the point that we are on the level that we can at least run, can at least race."

He continued: "So I think we will not close the gap come Miami, but we will try everything to reduce it. And how much it will be, we will only see. We must not forget Formula 1 is not standing still, and I said it before, Formula 1 is not waiting for you.
"So our competitors will for sure also work hard. With the intensity that you have in a racing season, it is tough to close gaps. We need to be aware of that and push hard. There's no magic recipe to that."

Montoya backs Aston Martin to bounce back

The Colombian driver believes that the Silverstone-based team will be able to shock many people still ahead of the conclusion of the 2026 season.
Speaking to a gambling site, he argued: "I still believe they're going to shock everybody once they figure all the issues. I do think they will have a pretty competitive car once all the s*** clears up. It's going to take them longer, but I think Aston will surprise us and I think they will surprise this year."
