Aston Martin chief warns new package will take time to unlock despite 'good step forward'

Despite an underwhelming qualifying performance, Alonso with the help of some good strategy was able to drag the maximum out of his Aston Martin, scoring two valuable points to add to the fortunate point he gained back in Monaco.

Speaking after the race, Krack warned that it will still take several races for Aston Martin to get the best out of their new upgrade package which was introduced in Hungary, but that the overall feedback from the drivers has been positive.

"We get to know this package more and more. I think we said with a large package that we introduced in Budapest, it will take some sessions to learn how to deal with it and to learn how to set it up. And the same goes actually also for the introduction of the power unit now.

He added: "If you have changes at this large scale with the intensity of the sessions, it's always difficult to get the maximum out of it all the time. And the more sessions we get, the more we will get it under control but there will be always the sessions where you will have a bit more difficulties, some others where it will be easier and I think we had quite a good configuration this weekend."

An emotional radio message between Alonso and team principal Adrian Newey emerged after the Spaniard secured two points with a ninth-place finish at the Dutch GP.

Alonso, whose F1 future is yet to be determined, replied: "Yeah, absolutely, Thanks to you guys, everyone in Silverstone, amazing. Lovely car to drive. And more to come, I know. Thank you, thank you."
